INSTRUCTORS > NICK BRYSON BIOGRAPHY
Nick Bryson is a dance artist living in rural Ireland with his family. He is from Belfast and now lives in Wicklow. He trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds as well as The School for New Dance Development, Amsterdam and University of Limerick, where he gained an MA. He is most known for the political satire Hanging in There with Damian Punch and the integrated dance work about advertising The point at which it last made sense, with Robin Dingemans, which won The Compass Commission at Greenwich/Laban, London, England, in 2014. Nick enjoyed a role as dance artist in residence at Birr Theatre & Arts Centre, Offaly, Ireland, for six years, where he set up Legitimate Bodies Dance Company. This was followed by three years in residence at Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray, Wicklow, Ireland, which is just coming to an end. His current interest is in international collaboration as well as envisioning and directing small dance festivals, If Only, Encompass in Birr, Bray, Ireland, and in 2017, Aonarach Le Chéil’ in Dingle, Kerry, Ireland, with Maria Svensson. He is now developing a work Floating House part of PIVOT project, in collaboration with Elena Giannotti in a pan-European work. Nick first met Susan Klein in 2011. In 2013 he also took her workshop in Gothenburg, Sweden and since then has been fascinated by her work. He is a member of the fourth Klein Technique™ Teacher Certification Program and is collaborating with Susan on a book on Klein Technique™.
